  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 200 grams of mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 100 grams of grated cheese (like Gruyère, Cheddar, or Mozzarella)
  • 1 teaspoon of fresh or dried thyme leaves
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • ½ teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Toast the bread: Start by toasting your rustic bread slices in a toaster or under the broiler until golden brown.
  2. Sauté the garlic: In a cast iron skillet, melt the butter or heat the olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and golden.
  3. Cook the mushrooms: Raise the heat to medium and add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté until golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Melt the cheese: Lower the heat again and sprinkle the grated cheese over the mushrooms. Stir gently until melted.
  5. Season: Add thyme, salt, and pepper. Allow the flavors to meld together for a minute or two.
