Instructions
- Toast the bread: Start by toasting your rustic bread slices in a toaster or under the broiler until golden brown.
- Sauté the garlic: In a cast iron skillet, melt the butter or heat the olive oil over medium-low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant and golden.
- Cook the mushrooms: Raise the heat to medium and add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté until golden brown and tender, about 5-7 minutes.
- Melt the cheese: Lower the heat again and sprinkle the grated cheese over the mushrooms. Stir gently until melted.
- Season: Add thyme, salt, and pepper. Allow the flavors to meld together for a minute or two.
