Description

A vibrant and zesty slaw featuring crisp cabbage and a tangy citrus dressing, perfect as a side dish or topping for tacos.


Ingredients

  • 1 bag store-bought coleslaw mix or 1 small head of fresh cabbage, finely shredded
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime or lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 cup diced jalapeños or chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Finely shred the cabbage if using fresh, or pour the coleslaw mix into a large bowl.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the coleslaw mix with olive oil and freshly squeezed citrus juice, using a 2:1 ratio of oil to citrus.
  3. Add salt and pepper to taste, mixing well to enhance the flavor.
  4. Optionally, toss in diced jalapeños or chopped cilantro as desired.
  5. Mix everything thoroughly until well combined and serve immediately on tacos, alongside grilled fish, or as a stand-alone salad.

Notes

For best texture, shredding cabbage finely is recommended. Store the slaw in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
