- 1 bag store-bought coleslaw mix or 1 small head of fresh cabbage, finely shredded
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lime or lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1/2 cup diced jalapeños or chopped cilantro
Instructions
- Finely shred the cabbage if using fresh, or pour the coleslaw mix into a large bowl.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the coleslaw mix with olive oil and freshly squeezed citrus juice, using a 2:1 ratio of oil to citrus.
- Add salt and pepper to taste, mixing well to enhance the flavor.
- Optionally, toss in diced jalapeños or chopped cilantro as desired.
- Mix everything thoroughly until well combined and serve immediately on tacos, alongside grilled fish, or as a stand-alone salad.
Notes
For best texture, shredding cabbage finely is recommended. Store the slaw in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
