Description

Delicious General Tso’s Chicken featuring crispy chicken thighs coated in a sweet and savory sauce, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Toss the chicken pieces in cornstarch until well-coated.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the coated chicken to the pan and cook until golden brown and crispy, about 5 to 7 minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, sauté minced garlic and grated ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes in a mixing bowl, then pour into the pan to simmer.
  6. Add the chicken back to the pan; toss until coated in sauce and heat through for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

This dish can be made-ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It can also be frozen for up to 2 months.
