Description

A classic fried chicken recipe that evokes warmth and nostalgia, bringing family together around the dining table.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Whole Chicken
  • 2 cups Buttermilk
  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 tbsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • Cooking Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by combining with buttermilk, salt, and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
  2. Prepare the coating by mixing flour with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep skillet.
  4. Dredge the marinated chicken pieces in the seasoned flour, shaking off excess.
  5. Fry the chicken in hot oil until golden brown, about 10–12 minutes on each side.
  6. Drain excess oil on a wire rack lined with paper towels and let it rest before serving.

Notes

For a healthier option, bake the chicken at 400°F (200°C) for 35–40 minutes. Leftover chicken can be stored in the fridge for 3-4 days.
