Description

Colorful and whimsical Jello Sugar Cookies that bring joy and nostalgia to any gathering.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 34 flavors of Jello gelatin powder (e.g., strawberry, lime, grape)
  • Additional sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large bowl using an electric mixer until fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Add the egg and mix until combined.
  4. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Combine the dry ingredients into the butter mixture and blend until a soft dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough into 3-4 portions; add 1-2 tablespoons of different Jello flavors to each and mix.
  7. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
  8. Shape the dough into balls, roll in additional sugar, flatten slightly, and place on baking sheets.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until edges are set and tops are crackled.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough before shaping and consider using different Jello flavors for variety.
