- 2 large onions
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups breadcrumbs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
- For the ranch dip:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Onions: Cut off the tops, peel, and slice a piece from the bottom for stability.
- Set Up Your Dipping Stations: Whisk together flour, paprika, salt, and pepper in one bowl. Pour buttermilk in another, and place breadcrumbs in a third.
- Coat the Onions: Dip each onion in the flour, then buttermilk, and finally roll in breadcrumbs.
- Heat the Oil: Preheat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry to Perfection: Fry onions for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown, using a slotted spoon to drain on paper towels.
- Make the Ranch Dip: Combine mayonnaise, remaining buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, dill, salt and pepper, and whisk until smooth.
- Serve and Enjoy: Arrange Mini Bloomin’ Onions on a platter with ranch dip on the side.
