Description

Rich and aromatic, Savory Chicken Bhuna embodies the essence of Indian cuisine with a warm embrace of spices and succulent chicken, perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pieces Chicken Thighs
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 1 piece Green Chili, deseeded and chopped
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Ginger, chopped
  • 2 pieces Onions, diced
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Chili Powder
  • 2 tsp Ground Cumin
  • 2 tsp Ground Coriander
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 5 pieces Tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Coriander, chopped
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 100 ml Water

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken: In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken thighs with turmeric, chili powder, salt, and half of the garlic and ginger. Allow it to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat the oil: In a cast iron skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
  3. Sauté aromatics: Add the remaining garlic, ginger, and diced onions to the pan. Cook until the onions turn golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add the chicken: Toss in the marinated chicken thighs, cooking them until browned on all sides.
  5. Introduce spices and tomatoes: Stir in the ground cumin, ground coriander, and garam masala. Follow with chopped tomatoes and mix well.
  6. Simmer: Add the water, followed by the green chili and lemon juice. Cover the skillet and let it simmer on low heat for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Finish with fresh coriander: Once the chicken is tender and the sauce has thickened, stir in fresh coriander.
  8. Serve with love: Serve your Chicken Bhuna hot, garnished with additional fresh coriander.

Notes

Marinate the chicken the night before for richer flavor. Customize with vegetables for a unique twist.
