Description

A delightful crispy fish sandwich featuring perfectly seasoned fillets, soft brioche buns, and homemade tartar sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 fish fillets (such as cod or haddock)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 soft brioche buns
  • Cheese slices (optional)
  • Homemade tartar sauce (for serving)
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Season the fish: Liberally season the fish fillets with salt and pepper.
  2. Prepare a breading station: Create an assembly line with flour, whisked eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  3. Bread the fish: Dredge fillets in flour, then dip in eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat the oil: In a skillet, add oil to cover the bottom and heat over medium.
  5. Fry the fish: Cook the fish for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Toast the buns: Lightly toast brioche buns in a separate pan.
  7. Assemble the sandwich: Place fish on the bun, add cheese if desired, and spread with tartar sauce.
  8. Serve with a smile alongside crispy fries or salad.

Notes

Make-ahead tips include preparing tartar sauce in advance and breading the fish one hour prior to frying for better texture.
