Description

A delightful crispy fish sandwich featuring flaky fish, crunchy coating, and zesty homemade tartar sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 fish fillets (e.g., cod or haddock)
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Oil, for frying
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (optional)
  • Homemade tartar sauce

Instructions

  1. Season the fish fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Set up three shallow plates: one with flour, the second with beaten eggs, and the third with breadcrumbs.
  3. Bread the fish by dredging each fillet in flour, then in eggs, and finally coating with breadcrumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat until hot (about 350°F).
  5. Fry the breaded fillets for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  6. Add cheese on top of each fillet in the last minute of cooking if desired.
  7. Toast the brioche buns in the same pan for extra flavor.
  8. Assemble the sandwiches with fish, tartar sauce, and the top bun.
  9. Serve immediately while warm and crispy.

Notes

For a healthier option, try air frying the fish fillets instead of frying in oil.
