Description

Delightful stacks of flaky puff pastry filled with savory ham and creamy cheese, perfect for appetizers or snacks.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 4 slices of cheese (e.g., cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional herbs for seasoning (fresh thyme or oregano)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to an even thickness.
  3. Cut the pastry into squares, roughly 4 inches by 4 inches.
  4. Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese in the center of each square.
  5. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling to form a tower.
  6. Brush the tops of each pastry tower with beaten egg. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and herbs.
  7. Transfer the towers onto a prepared baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffy.
  9. Serve warm as an appetizer or snack.

Notes

Keep puff pastry cold until ready to use for best puffing results. Can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to a day before baking.
