Description

A perfectly roasted Christmas turkey infused with savory herbs and spices, creating a festive centerpiece for your holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1214 pound turkey
  • Fresh rosemary
  • Fresh thyme
  • Fresh sage
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 cups vegetable stock
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the turkey under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels. Remove the giblets from the cavity.
  2. Season the inside with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix softened butter, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Loosen the skin over the turkey breast and rub some herb butter beneath the skin. Use the rest to coat the exterior.
  5. Pack stuffing loosely into the cavity if desired, and close it with kitchen string or skewers.
  6. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C). Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a pan, add vegetable stock, and cover loosely with foil.
  7. Roast for about 3 to 4 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C), basting every 30 minutes.
  8. Rest the turkey for at least 30 minutes before carving.
  9. Carve and serve with your favorite sides!

Notes

For the best flavor, prepare the herb butter a day in advance and consider brining the turkey overnight for enhanced moisture.
