Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Gently heat the milk and butter until warm, then pour into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
- Incorporate Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, kneading until a soft, supple dough forms.
- Knead and Rise: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth. Place in a bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour.
- Shape the Rolls: Roll out the dough into a 15×20 inch rectangle. Brush melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar mix over it.
- Roll and Cut: Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Overnight Chill: Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.
- Bake to Perfection: Let rise for 30 minutes at room temperature, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes.
- Glaze: Mix powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla, and milk to achieve desired glaze consistency, drizzle over warm rolls.
Notes
Make-ahead tips include prepping the dough the night before for enhanced flavor. Avoid common mistakes such as forgetting to activate the yeast or rushing the first rise.
