Description

Deliciously soft and fluffy cinnamon rolls that can be prepared overnight for a delightful breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Gently heat the milk and butter until warm, then pour into the dry ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  2. Incorporate Eggs: Beat in the eggs one at a time, kneading until a soft, supple dough forms.
  3. Knead and Rise: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5–7 minutes until smooth. Place in a bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Roll out the dough into a 15×20 inch rectangle. Brush melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon and brown sugar mix over it.
  5. Roll and Cut: Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Overnight Chill: Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Let rise for 30 minutes at room temperature, then bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25–30 minutes.
  8. Glaze: Mix powdered sugar, cream cheese, vanilla, and milk to achieve desired glaze consistency, drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

Make-ahead tips include prepping the dough the night before for enhanced flavor. Avoid common mistakes such as forgetting to activate the yeast or rushing the first rise.
