Description

These Reuben Balls combine the classic flavors of a Reuben sandwich into bite-sized, crunchy snacks perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups corned beef, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese, grated
  • 1 cup sauerkraut, drained
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup rye bread crumbs
  • Oil for frying
  • 1/2 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • Hot sauce, to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients: In a mixing bowl, blend corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and cream cheese until everything is harmoniously mixed.
  2. Form balls: Using a spoon or cookie scoop, take portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls.
  3. Coat the balls: Roll each ball in rye bread crumbs to coat evenly.
  4. Heat the oil: Pour oil into your deep fryer or skillet, ensuring it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry until golden: Gently place the Reuben Balls into the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. Make the dipping sauce: In a small bowl, mix together your Thousand Island dressing with hot sauce to your desired level of spiciness.
  7. Serve warm: Remove the balls from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels. Serve with the spicy dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

Make ahead by preparing the mixture and refrigerating for up to 24 hours. For a lighter option, consider baking at 400°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes.
