- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups cooked ham, diced
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 onion, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: breadcrumbs for topping
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Combine the sliced potatoes, diced ham, and half of the shredded cheese in a large bowl.
- Mix together the heavy cream, milk, chopped onion, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
- Layer half of the potato mixture in a greased baking dish and pour half the cream mixture over it.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cream mixture.
- Top with the remaining shredded cheese and optional breadcrumbs.
- Dot the top with butter.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40-45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before serving.
