Description

A comforting dish of layered potatoes with ham and gooey cheese, baked to perfection for a warm family meal.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups cooked ham, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: breadcrumbs for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced potatoes, diced ham, and half of the shredded cheese in a large bowl.
  3. Mix together the heavy cream, milk, chopped onion, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl.
  4. Layer half of the potato mixture in a greased baking dish and pour half the cream mixture over it.
  5. Repeat with the remaining potatoes and cream mixture.
  6. Top with the remaining shredded cheese and optional breadcrumbs.
  7. Dot the top with butter.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 40-45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Optional: Add vegetables for added nutrition and variety. Adjust cooking times based on oven performance.
