Description
Classic Spaghetti Bolognese envelops al dente spaghetti in a rich, savory sauce, blending flavors of tender ground meat, fresh vegetables, and aromatic herbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 400 g spaghetti
- 500 g ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, finely diced
- 2 celery stalks, finely diced
- 800 g canned or fresh crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 glass red wine (optional)
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Herbs (oregano, basil, bay leaf)
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- Cook the spaghetti in a pot of generously salted boiling water until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water before draining.
- Sauté the diced onion, garlic, carrots, and celery in olive oil over medium heat until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- Brown the ground beef by pushing the vegetables to one side of the pan and cooking the meat until browned.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine (if using) into the pan, then season with salt, pepper, and herbs.
- Simmer the sauce uncovered for 20-30 minutes until thickened, adding reserved pasta water if it thickens too much.
- Serve the spaghetti topped with the Bolognese sauce and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
For added flavor, include a pinch of red pepper flakes or a splash of balsamic vinegar. This dish can be made ahead for deeper flavor.
