Description

Tender, juicy steak draped in sweet, caramelized onions with a balsamic glaze for an unforgettable culinary experience.


Ingredients

  • 1 Thick-cut Sirloin or Ribeye
  • 2 Large Onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley, finely chopped
  • Sea Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Sauté onions: In a cast-iron skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until they turn soft and jammy, with a deep golden-brown hue.
  2. Add balsamic and sugar: Near the end of cooking, splash in balsamic vinegar and sprinkle brown sugar on the onions. Stir and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  3. Season and sear steak: Generously season your steak with sea salt. Heat the skillet to high and sear the steak for about 3 minutes per side for a perfect medium-rare crust.
  4. Rest and top: Once cooked to your liking, let the steak rest for 5 minutes. Top it generously with the sweet, sticky onions.
  5. Finish with pan juices: Drizzle any remaining pan juices over the steak before garnishing it with freshly chopped parsley.

Notes

Make the balsamic-onion glaze a day in advance for even better flavor. Allow steak to rest before slicing to retain juices.
