Description
Tender, juicy steak draped in sweet, caramelized onions with a balsamic glaze for an unforgettable culinary experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 Thick-cut Sirloin or Ribeye
- 2 Large Onions, thinly sliced
- 3 tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley, finely chopped
- Sea Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Sauté onions: In a cast-iron skillet, melt butter over medium-low heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until they turn soft and jammy, with a deep golden-brown hue.
- Add balsamic and sugar: Near the end of cooking, splash in balsamic vinegar and sprinkle brown sugar on the onions. Stir and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens.
- Season and sear steak: Generously season your steak with sea salt. Heat the skillet to high and sear the steak for about 3 minutes per side for a perfect medium-rare crust.
- Rest and top: Once cooked to your liking, let the steak rest for 5 minutes. Top it generously with the sweet, sticky onions.
- Finish with pan juices: Drizzle any remaining pan juices over the steak before garnishing it with freshly chopped parsley.
Notes
Make the balsamic-onion glaze a day in advance for even better flavor. Allow steak to rest before slicing to retain juices.
