Description

Warm, fluffy donuts filled with rich strawberry custard, perfect for special occasions.


Ingredients

  • 3 large egg yolks

  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Sugar for coating

Instructions

  1. Prepare the strawberries by dicing and mixing with sugar.
  2. Make the custard by heating cream, whole milk, and salt.
  3. Whisk egg yolks and granulated sugar until thick.
  4. Combine warm milk mixture with egg yolks slowly.
  5. Thicken the custard by adding cornstarch slurry.
  6. Prepare the donut dough by mixing warm milk with yeast.
  7. Mix the dough with flour and salt until smooth.
  8. Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  9. Shape the donuts and let them rise again.
  10. Fry the donuts until golden brown.
  11. Fill the donuts with the chilled custard.

Notes

You can substitute strawberries with other berries or use an air fryer for a healthier option.
